Call for Papers: NLSIU announces Consilience 2013 - Conference on contemporary technology related legal issues

The readers may be interested to know that the the Law and Technology Committee of National Law School of India University, Bangalore is organizing- 'Consilience-2013', which is an annual conference on contemporary technology related legal issues. 

The conference, which is going to be held from 25th-26th May, 2013 will have as its theme “Data Protection and Cyber Security in India”. The Committee is devoted to the field of technology law and has sought to inspire academic debates and tackle contentious issues of contemporary relevance. Past editions of the conference have brought together luminaries like Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia (Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission), Mr. R. Ramraj (MD and CEO, Sify Technologies Ltd.,), Mr. Richard Stallman (Founder – GNU Project), Hon’ble Justice Yatindra Singh (Allahabad High Court, India), Mr. Rahul Matthan (Partner, Trilegal) and have discussed issues relating to “Legal Aspects of Business Process Outsourcing”, “Biotechnology and the Law” and “Free and Open Source Software”. This year’s edition of Consilience seeks to not only bring leading academicians to debate upon the various topics of contention but also looks to increase and encourage student participation.

Tracks for discussion- There are seven tracks relating to which submissions are invited:

1.Frameworks for Data Protection in India: The J. A.P. Shah “Report of the Group of Experts on Privacy”:
2. India and the EU: The Privacy Debate
3. Governmental Schemes, Data Protection, and Security
4. Contracts and Data Protection in India
5. Cyber security in India
6. Surveillance and Cyber Security
7. The Draft National Cyber Security Policy

Submissions: 

The abstracts must be between 750- 800 words. The DEADLINE for the submission of abstracts is April 30thand the authors of the selected abstracts will have to submit their final papers of 2500 words by 15th May, 2013.
