SpicyIP Events: Registrations for Consilience 2013 are now open

Posted on 5:13 AM by Unknown

We had reported about Consilience, a conference organized by the Law and Technology Committee of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore the previous month. The following information comes to us from the Law and Technology Committee of NLSIU.

The Law and Technology Committee of NLSIU, which is a student committee actively engaged in promoting awareness in the field of Technology Law, is organizing a conference on ‘Data Protection and Cyber Security in India’ on 25th and 26th of May, 2013 (Saturday and Sunday). The Conference will see some of the best Lawyers and Jurists in India speak on different issues which surround Data Protection and Cyber Security. The Conference is co- branded with Center for Internet and Society (www.cis-india.org). Apart from making an effective contribution towards greater understanding of the subject, we envisage this exchange of ideas leading upto a recommendation paper/declaration putting forth certain recommendations/suggestions/concerns pertaining to Data Protection and Cyber Security to the Government of India.

The key speakers (confirmed) for the same are:

Justice Ajit Prakash Shah (former Chief Justice Delhi HC and Madras HC)
Justice S.R. Bannurmath (former Chief Justice Kerala HC)
Jacob Appelbaum (Core-Member, Tor-Project and Former Spokesperson, Wikileaks)
Kamlesh Bajaj (CEO, Data Security Council of India)
Hormis Tharakan (Ex-RAW Chief)
Saikat Dutta (Bureau Chief, DNA)
Somasekhar VK (Managing trustee, Grahak Shakti)
NS Nappinai (NSN & Associates, Mumbai)
Sudhir Krishnaswamy (Professor, Azim Premji University)
Retd. Col. Mathew Thomas (Founder, Citizens Action Forum)
Apar Gupta (Advocate, Delhi HC)
Samuel Mani K. (Founding Partner, Mani Chengappa & Mathur, Bangalore)

The Registrations for the Conference are now open and the fees for the same (for early birds registering before May 12th, 2013) is Rs. 300/- for Students and Rs. 500/- for Non-Students. For more information, visit http://www.consilience.co.in/.
